Dovetail Props was started by a NYC based set designer who was frequently frustrated by the furniture options available at local prop houses and the inefficiency of renting daily from stores.
Our first focus is on tall stools simply because that is what is most requested by our clients. Our goal was to open a shop with the best stool collection available for rental in New York, potentially nationally.
Dovetail is also a full service set shop. We regularly do anything from small sets to model making. We are adept at utilizing steel, wood, plastics, fabric, foam or any number of materials. Under the Dovetail umbrella is a whole host of talented designers, makers, scenic artists, carpenters, furniture makers, stylists and more.
We have been called to do everything from real flower walls in Soho to museum installations in Moscow, Russia. We have yet to meet a challenge we weren’t happy to take on.
