Eric Novak is a designer, sculptor, fabricator & master craftsman working in film, theatre, museum exhibition & store display.
With over 20 years experience & knowledge on materials, if you can imagine it, he can build it.
Design & fabrication services include: puppet design & fabrication, custom prop design & fabrication, set design, sculpting in a variety of materials, mechanical animation, mold-making & casting, wood carving, carpentry, welding (MIG).
Broadway: Puppet design & direction for Radio City Music Hall's “New York Spring Spectacular” (2015), building puppets designed by Basil Twist for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2017) and “The Addams Family” (2010). He puppeteered Magic Screen in "The Pee Wee Herman Show on Broadway” (2010). For the North American tour of “Miss Saigon” (2002) he designed & built the lion & dragon puppets.
Regional: A life-size reindeer puppet for Omaha Children's Theater’s “Prancer” (2016), polar bear & reindeer costume pieces for the Omaha Symphony
Feature Film: 4 life-sized marionettes for “The American Astronaut” (2001), Production Design & shadow puppets for the short film, “King of the Magicians”. His short of the “Hunchback of Notre Dame” is currently in production.
Museum: “Noah’s Ark” (2007) at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Eric sculpted 25 pairs of life-size animal heads in wood, along with the sculptural welding of puppets & kinetic sculptures.
